The Works of Charles Darwin

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE BOOKS ARE NOW SOLD AND NO LONGER ON OFFER

A few years ago, I was gifted a wonderful set of books in appreciation of my writing on Darwin, The Works of Charles Darwin, the only source of the complete works as a single matching set. I am sad to say that these gorgeous books have remained inside their packing cases as received (save for the purposes of this article). They are therefore in mint condition and exquisite. Just as well really, because now I have to sell them. A terribly difficult decision, but needs must, and hopefully someone else will actually remove them from their packaging, appreciate their beauty and use them. A promo video, the individual book details, the retail-recommended price (RRP) and a couple of short reviews, all follow. I am open to offers (if you are interested, then please make contact).

Reviews
‘Are they needed? To be sure. The Darwin industry has scandalously failed to provide texts of more than a handful of Darwin’s books. If you want to know what Darwin said about his grandfather or what he wrote about barnacles (still an essential reference to cirripedists, apart from any historical importance) you are forced to search shelves, or wait until someone else does it for you. Many titles have not been in print for a century.’
– Eric Korn, The Times Literary Supplement
‘Having the whole output of a single author as a complete set arranged in chronological order is a resource of incalculable value…The illustrations are magnificent…the publishers must be congratulated on the high quality of these reproductions.’
– P J James, Archives of Natural History

  1. Sorry you have to sell this collection, mate. It looks like just your thing too. Hope it finds a good home.

  2. If I had the money available I’d buy it in a heartbeat; sadly, as the major addition to the library this year was the OED, I’m a bit skint at the moment.

Thanks. That’s nice of you to say. I am open to offers :))
